Visit the Fire Station Open House In the one-hour tour, we had a glimpse of the fire station’s functions and features, the skills needed to be a firefighter, and how these brave staff risk their lives during fire emergencies to carry out rescue and firefighting duties. The City of San Diego's fire stations are open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for tours and visits on a prearranged and approved basis. Visitors are welcome to meet firefighters, paramedics and emergency medical technicians and see the equipment used to keep their neighborhoods safe. Tours are limited to groups of 25 or fewer (adults and children)%.

A very cute story about kids who visit a fire station, stowaway on a fire truck as it makes a run, get covered with smoke which changes colors on them, and then have to scrub it off once their parents recognize who they are. It's total fantasy, but it's cute. Firefighters Bookstore Item #   Respect that the fire station is a place of business and that while they welcome little visitors, they really can only take about 10 minutes to host you. If the bell rings and they have to take an emergency call, you must get out of the way immediately and let them take off on in the truck.

Step 1: Tour the local fire station. Step 2: Using a camera, the students take turns taking photos during their trip to the fire station. Step 3: Download these photos into iPhoto or the PC software. Step 4: Using iPhoto or the PC software, create a book about the trip to the fire station. Each student can write or dictate a sentence that describes his or her photo. Minimum age for station tours is four years old. To book a tour of your local fire station, please call or use the Citizen Web Intake form online. Please note: All Fire Stations are operational facilities, and our emergency services work always comes first. Firefighters may be called away from the station at any time during your scheduled tour.
